Wilson Avenue

From Pittsburgh Streets
Wilson Avenue
Neighborhood Perry South
Origin of name James Wilson

The southern end of this street appears, unlabeled, in the 1872 Hopkins atlas, running along the eastern edge of land owned by James Wilson.[1] It was officially opened as Wilson Avenue by an Allegheny city ordinance in 1873.[2] It is called Wilson Street in the 1876 and 1886 Hopkins atlases,[3][4] but this appears to be an error. It is correctly labeled Wilson Avenue in the 1890 edition.[5][6]
