This street was originally part of Sennott Street.[1] It was renamed Roberto Clemente Drive in 1976 in honor of Roberto Clemente (1934–1972), star player of the Pittsburgh Pirates for 18 seasons (1955–1972).[2] It was renamed Roberto and Vera Clemente Drive in 2021 to additionally honor Roberto's wife Vera Zabala Clemente (1941–2019), a philanthropist and the head of the Roberto Clemente Foundation.[3]
