Orchard Way (until 1905)
Alma Way (1905–1927)

This alley was laid out as Orchard Way in 1890 in the Birmingham Land Improvement Company's South View Place plan and T. A. Noble and E. F. Hays' plan of Nobleton.[1][2]

In 1905, a Carrick borough ordinance approved an official "draft or plan" of the borough and adopted all the street names shown on that map.[3] This map renamed this alley Alma Way.[4]

After Carrick Borough was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1927,[5] this name conflicted with Alma Street in Greenfield, so it was renamed Alcove Way.[6]
