Some history of Duck Hollow and its isolation by slag heaps. 1890 layer shows road connections east and west; 1903–1906 layer and Source:Hopkins-1910 show the Phebe A. Phillips plan adjoining to the northeast; but the 1923 layer shows that the Duquesne Slag Product Co. has purchased all surrounding land (and shows a narrow bridge across Nine Mile Run to Macfarren Street).
