1847-01-07: R. E. McGowin, "Notice," Gazette and Advertiser, [p. 2] (Newspapers.com 95765217): "ALL persons interested in the opening of Prospect street, from Beech alley to Seventh street, in the Third Ward, are hereby notified that a plan and specification of the opening of said street is now deposited in the office of the Recording Regulator, for public examination and inspection, as directed by Ordinance of the 7th of December, 1856, authorizing the opening of the said street."

1865-08-07: "An ordinance authorizing the grading, paving and setting with curb stone Bedford street and Beech alley." Pittsburgh Gazette, 1865-08-09, [p. 2] (Newspapers.com 86353846); 1865-08-10, [p. 4] (Newspapers.com 86353863); and 1865-08-11, [p. 3] (Newspapers.com 86353872).

1865-11-28: "Meeting of the City Councils," Pittsburgh Commercial, p. 1 (Newspapers.com 85265965): "Mr. Quinn presented a petition from property holders on Beech alley praying for the grading and paving of said alley from Seventh to Washington streets. Read and referred to Committee on Streets, with instructions to report an ordinance."

1879-03-01: Source:Denny-estate-plan includes "Hickory Alley."

1881-03-04: Source:Ordinance-1880-1881-33: "Hickory alley, from Webster avenue to Fountain street, Fifth ward."

1910-04-05: Source:Ordinance-1909-1910-716: "Hickory ay., from Webster av. to Grant blvd., 2d wd."

1917-04-25: Source:Ordinance-1917-169 refers to "the easterly line of Hickory way, as shown on a plan laid out by Mrs. E. F. Denny, June 12, 1859, and recorded in the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Engineering, Plan Book, Vol. 2, page 95."

1958-05-01: Source:Ordinance-1958-190: Last mention of Hickory Way in the Municipal Record. This ordinance vacated "Gilmore Way from Hickory Way to Crawford Street" but did not vacate Hickory Way itself.
