Ireland Way

From Pittsburgh Streets
Ireland Way
Neighborhood Marshall-Shadeland
Origin of name Ireland

This alley appears, unlabeled, in the 1882 Hopkins atlas.[1] It remained unnamed until it was named Ireland Alley in 1910.[2] It became Ireland Way in 1914, when a city ordinance changed all alleys to ways.[3] Bob Regan includes "Ireland" in a list of streets named for countries,[4] though when the alley was given the name in 1910, all of Ireland was part of the United Kingdom.
