The name of this alley was established as Darwin Alley by a city ordinance in 1881.[1] It became Darwin Way in 1914 when an ordinance changed all alleys to ways.[2]
Bob Regan includes "Darwin" in a list of streets named for noted historical people;[3] the implied eponym seems to be Charles Darwin (1809–1882), famous for proposing the scientific theory of evolution by natural selection.
