Broughton Street

From Pittsburgh Streets
(Redirected from Browne Street)
Broughton Street
Neighborhood Bloomfield
Origin of name Modification of Browne, its original name
Browne Street (until 1910)

This street was laid out as Browne Street in 1901 in a plan of lots by Elmer W. Moore, subdividing the former property of Alexander Bradley.[1] It was renamed Broughton Street in 1910 to avoid confusion with Brown Alley in Garfield (today Brown Way).[2] The name Broughton is probably just a modification of Browne.
