This alley was laid out in 1860 in the Park Place plan for George E. Peebles, though that plan did not give it a name.[1] It was named Blossom Alley by a Pittsburgh city ordinance in 1881.[2]
Allegheny City was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1907.[3] In 1910, over 900 streets were renamed to fix duplications in the enlarged city. There was another Blossom Alley on the North Side (today Blossom Way), so this alley in the East End was renamed Board Alley.[4] It became Board Way in 1914, when another ordinance changed all alleys in Pittsburgh to ways.[5]
