A street named Fifth Street was laid out in 1866 in a plan of lots for Elizabeth F. Denny; it ran from Sassafras Street to the Pennsylvania Railroad, nearly in line with modern 37th Street.[1][2][3][4][5] This street was eliminated in 1883 when a revised plan of lots was laid out.[6][7]
