Template:Former name/doc

The {{former name}} template creates a section for a former street name in an infobox.

Full syntax

Template with all parameters	Parameter	Description
{{former name |name= |redirect= |when= |from= |to= |floruit= |portion= |origin= }}	name	A former name for the street.
	redirect	The title of the redirect corresponding to this former name. Every former name should have a corresponding redirect. If this parameter is not provided, the name parameter will be assumed to be the title of the corresponding redirect. A small link will be produced, visible only to logged-in users, pointing to the redirect with redirect=no, which is useful to verify that the redirect points to the right place and that it has the appropriate categories. The redirect is also checked to verify that it points back to the transcluding page; if this check fails, the link to the redirect will be orange and the page will be added to Category:Streets with former names whose redirect check failed.
	when	When this former name was in use. In most cases, this should be a year range (such as 1784–1909) or a phrase like "until 1881". If the when parameter is specified, the from, to, and floruit parameters are ignored.
	from	The year that this former name was first in use. If the year is estimated, use the {{circa}} template. This parameter can be omitted if there is no information about when this former name was first used.
	to	The year that this former name was last in use. If the year is estimated, use the {{circa}} template.
	floruit	An approximate year or range that this former name was in use. Use something to indicate the uncertainty: for example, the {{circa}} template for a single year, or a vague range like 1850s. This is ignored if from or to is specified.
	portion	If only a portion of the modern street had this former name, this parameter can be used to describe that portion.
	origin	A brief description of the origin of this former name. If this is not specified, the page will be added to Category:Streets with former names with no origin specified.
