Council Acts
Tokay O. K. As New Name Of Tokio St.

"Tokay" is OK with council and the postoffice department, as a name for old Tokio street, Thirteenth ward, the city's law makers decided, yesterday. Some time ago council received a request that it change the name, in the light of certain happenings at Pear [sic] Harbor.

Council approved of the suggestion, but asked, as is the custom, concurrance [sic] by the postoffice. Yesterday the mail authorities went along, but pointed out that there was still another street with a name which might be re-evaluated, for similar reasons.

The highway is Japan way, running from Harding to Herron avenues, Fifth ward. "Why not call it Pan Jap Way," said Councilman T. J. Gallagher. Council may follow the suggestion.
