THE SURVEY COMMITTEE.
REGULAR MEETING YESTERDAY—DISPOSITION OF PETITIONS, RESOLUTIONS, ETC.—TRANSPORTATION EXPENSES OF THE ENGINEER'S CORPS—CONTRACT LET.

The Survey Committee held a regular monthly meeting in the Common Council Chamber yesterday afternoon, Mr. Aull in the chair, when the following action was had.

WOODVILLE STREET.

A communication from property holders on Woodville street, Thirty-second ward, referred to the committee by Common Council, was read, asking that the Engineer be instructed to show the line of the street, as they have been notified to move back their properties in order that the thoroughfare may be made wider. Laid over.

Resolution for survey and location of highways on the bed of Saw Mill Run, Little Saw Mill Run and McCartney's Run. Referred to the City Engineer.

Ordinance to ascertain the line between the Thirty-second and Thirty-fifth wards. Referred to the Engineer, who was instructed to report at the next meeting.

Petition for change of location of a part Jonquair [sic] street lying in the Twenty-second ward. The Engineer was instructed to make a survey.

Petition for the vacation of a portion of Thirty-second street, formerly township road. Referred to City Solicitor for opinion.

Resolution to establish grade on Thirty-third street between Liberty avenue and the Pennsylvania Railroad. Engineer instructed to prepare a profile.

Petition for the establishing of grade of Monastety [sic] avenue, High street, St. Martin street, St. Thomas street, Virginia and Birmingham avenues. Engineer instructed to prepare plans at his convenience.

Mr. Glass of a sub-committee, reported in favor of fixing the grade of Boston street at ten feet to the hundred from Soho street to the crown of the hill. The report was received and the Commissioner was instructed to prepare a profile to be reported at the next meeting.

TRANSPORTATION EXPENSES.

City Engineer Dempster presented a bill for $65 for transportation expenses of members of the survey corps for the month of June. The engineer stated that heretofore the Committee had paid transportation expenses of their servants, but that the Controller had recently refused to sign the warrants. The members of the corps were compelled to pay their own car fare, and they ask that the amount now be refunded.

Some discussion was had during which the majority of the members expressed the opinion that a refusal on the part of the city to pay transportation expenses of her servants would be mistaken economy. On motion the clerk was instructed to prepare a resolution for Councils authorizing the payment of the bills.

A communication was read from Messrs. J. Mills McKelvy & Co. asking thatt he [sic] committee authorize the location of such streets as they may deem proper through their property in the Twenty-second ward as they are desirous of sub-dividing the same. A committee was appointed for that purpose.

CONRACT [sic] LET FOR MARK STONE.

Proposals were then read for furnishing land mark stone as follows:

Messrs. Dean & Patterson $2 40 per stone.

Mr. James T. Ray $2 50 per stone.

The contract was let to Messrs. Dean & Patterson with the provision that they comply fully with the contract in delivering the stone.

The following plans [sic] was submitted and approved: Sawyer's plan of lots in the Eighteenth ward.

The plan for the location of Homewood avenue, was on motion indefinitely postponed.

An ordinance was ordered to be reported for the establishment of a grade on Craft avunue [sic].

On motion, the committee adjourned.
