Runaway.—As Thomas Williams, Esq., was riding home in his carriage, about seven o'clock last evening, a runaway horse came up near the Allegheny gas works. On seeing him the horses in the carriage became excited and started at break-neck speed down Western avenue. The driver and Mr. Williams used all their exertions to stop them, but without avail. When near the residence of Mr. Williams, the carriage was overturned and Mr. Williams thrown out; his head and shoulders in a ditch. The driver soon succeeded in stopping the horses, when it was found that the carriage was badly broken. Mr. Williams escaped with a few bruises. His escape from more serious injuries was wonderful, as the horses were going very rapidly and he was thrown out with considerable force.
