An Ordinance Naming the Streets

Be it ordained and enacted by the Burgess and Council of the Borough of Elliott, in Council assembled and it is hereby ordained and enacted by authority of the same

Section 1 That the following names shall be and are hereby adopted for the Streets designated after each respectively

Rue Grand Vue—the street running along the Northeasterly end of the Borough from the Northwestly [sic] Borough line to the Southeasterly Borough line to the and marked by the same name on the Plans of C. H. Love in Plan Book Vol 3 Page 18 and Page 220 Recorder's Office Allegheny County.

Chartiers avenue—that part of the road leading from Stuben [sic] street, in the city of Pittsburgh, to Sheriden Station, and heretofore known as the New Road or Sheriden road, which lies within the Borough.

Catherine Street—the street of that mame [sic] in Smithley and Hay's plan, in plan Book Vol. 2., Part 2, Page 123 Recorder's Office, Allegheny County, and its extensions by straight lines, to the line of the T. P. [sic] of Chartiers.

Stuben [sic] Street—the street or road heretofore known as the Stubenville [sic] Turnpike, from the line of the city of Pittsburgh to the line of the T. P. [sic] of Chartiers.

High Street—the street heretofore known as Green avenue or Green lane from Steuben street to the line of the city of Pittsburgh.

Lorenz Avenue—The street running from Rue Grande [sic] Vue along the Southwesterly front of the Public School property, South 52 degrees 35 minutes West to High street.

Fairview Avenue—the street marked by that name on Plans of C. H. Love Plan book Vol. 3, Page 220, and B. F. and Annie C. Fox Plan Book P [sic] Vol. 3, Page 222, Recorder's Office of Allegheny Co. from Rue Grand Vue to the street hereinafter named Fox Avenue.

Marion Avenue—the street 40 feet wide next Northwest of the parallel with Fairview avenue from Rue Grande [sic] Vue avenue to Chartiers ave, there being a jog or offseat [sic] in this street at the street hereinafter called Union avenue.

Quarry Avenue—the street marked with that name on the Fox Plan above mention [sic] and running from Fairview Avenue Southwardly by straight lines to the Borough line at the corner of Union Avenue.

Elizabeth street, Virginia Avenue, and Mary avenue—the streets marked by those names respectively on said Love's and Foxe's [sic] Plans, Southwardly to Fairview avenue. These names shall be applied to any continuations of these streets Southestwardly [sic] from Fairview avenue.

Union Avenue—the street marked by that name in said Fox's Plan, from Quarry Avenue at its Southerly end Northwestwardly to Marion Avenue. This name shall also be applied to the Alley which is an extension of said Union Avenue Northwestwardly by said line to Lorenz Avenue.

William Street—the 30 foot street parallel with and about 88 feet distant Southwestwardly from said last mentioned Alley, from Lorenz Avenue to Marion Avenue.

Grace Street—the 30 foot street next Southwesterly from William street, from Lorenz avenue to Marion avenue.

Albree Street—the street of that name in Hershberger, Herriott and Wettengel Plan, Plan Book Vol. 7, Page 76, Recorder's Office afforsaid [sic], from Lorenz Avenue to the Southeasterly line of said Plan.

Lookout avenue, Fox avenue and Atwood Avenue—the streets respectively marked by those names in Said Fox's Plan.

Annie Avenue—the street running from the Northwesterly end of Fox ave. Southwestwardly to Chartiers avenue.

Love avenue—the street running along the Northesterly [sic] side of Richard and Isaac Knowlson's Plan, Plan Book Vol. 8, Page 261, said Recorder's Office, from Lorenz avenue to the Northwesterly Borough line.

Rebecca street, Bryant street and Wood street—the streets respectively marked by those names in said Knowlson's Plan and Plan of James Wood, Plan Book Vol. 3, Page 126, said Recorder's Office, from Love ave. Southwestwardly to Chartiers ave.

Allen Street—the 40 foot street Northwest of Loreng [sic] avenue running from Chartiers ave. Southwest to Catherine street.

Brown Street—the street running from Catharine street Southwestwardly to Shellie street Northwest of Lorenz ave.

Ernie Street—Southeast of Lorenz avenue running from Chartiers avenue Southwestwardly to a street herein named Jane street.

Amelia street—the street Southeast of Lorenz avenue, running from Chartiers avenue Southwestwardly to Stuben [sic] Street.

Frederick Street—the 40 foot street between Catharine street and Chartiers avenue, from Lorenz ave Northwestwardly to the Borough line

Elliott Street—the street running from Steuben Street Southwestwardly to the street herein named Winchester street, and also the alley continuing by a a [sic] straight line Southwestwardly to High Street.

Taylor avenue—the street between Lorenz avenue and Elliott street, being Southeast of Lorenz ave. from Steuben Street Southwestwardly to High street, and continuing from high street as much further as this street is laid out and opened.

Hill Street—the street running from High Street, Northeastwardly to the street herein named Warren street, just Southeast of the angles of High street, Wayne street and Warren street. This name shall also be adopted for the 10 foot alley which is a continuation of this street Northwestwardly from Warren st. to Winchester street

South Main street—the street which is a continuation of the street of that name in the city of Pittsburgh Northwestwardly from the city line to Steuben St.

Whinchester [sic], Warren and Wayne Sts. the streets marked by those names in McCartney's & Hudson's [sic] Plan, Plan Book, Vol. 1, Page 204, Recorder's Office, Allegheny County, and the extensions of those streets southeastwardly to the line of the City of Pittsburgh or as far as they are laid out and opened.

Perry street, Pen [sic] street, Pike street and Pitt st.—the streets marked by those names in said McCartney and Hudson's [sic] plan.

Shellie street—the street running from Steuben street northwestwardly to the property of Bethany Sundy [sic] school.

Section 2. That the following names shall be and hereby adopted for the alleys designated and described after each respectively:

Flag alley—the alley between Rue Grand View [sic] and Elizabeth street, from Lorenz avenue southwestwardly to the borough line.

Gum alley—the alley between Elizabeth street and Virgin [sic] avenue, from Lorenz ave. southeastwardly to the Borough line.

Ivy alley—the alley between Virginia avenue and Mary avenue, from Lorenz ave to Fairview avenue.

Locust alley—the alley between Marry [sic] avenue and Union ave., to from [sic] Lorenz avenue to Fairview avenue.

Apple alley—the alley between William street and Grace street, from Marion avenue to an alley herein named Park alley.

Pine alley—the alley between Grace to [sic] Albree streets, from Lorenz avenue to Marion ave., and extending southeastwardly from Marion ave. about 94 feet.

Francis way—the alley northeast of and parallel with Fox avenue, from Lookout avenue northeastwardly to an alley herein named Chestnut way.

Iron alley—the alley between Chartiers avenue and Fredrick [sic] avenue, from Allen northwestwardly to the Bor. line.

Short alley—the alley between Chartiers ave. and Jane street, from Lorenz ave. to Ernie street.

Cherry alley—the alley between Catharine street and Steuben St., from the line of the Tp. of Chartiers to the line of the city of Pgh.

Foster way—the alley between Winchester street and Warren st. from Elliott to Hill street.

Elm, Plum and Peach Way—the alleys respectively designated by those names in S. Colvin's Plan, Plan Book vol. __, page __, in said Recorder's Office.

Maple alley—the alley between Peach way and Elliott street, from Winchester to Foster street and from Warren to High street.

Ester way—the alley between Lookout avenue and the line of the City of Pgh., from Union avenue to Fox avenue.

Arry way—the alley between Lookout avenue and Fairview avenue, from Quarry to Fox avenue.

Chestnut way—the alley between Fairview and Marion avenue, to [sic] Rue Grand View [sic] to Fox ave.

Park alley—the alley between Marion and Lorenz avenue, from Rue Grand View [sic] to Virgin alley.

Virgin alley—the alley between Albree street and Catharine street from Lorenz avenue to Marion ave.

Oak alley—the alley between Lorenz avenue and Allen street, from Chartiers avenue to Catharine street.

Rose alley—the street or alley from Fox avenue at a point nearly opposite Arry way southwestwardly to Atwood street.

Section 3. The following names shall be adopted and are hereby adopted for the streets designated, and described after each respectively:

Louise avenue—the street between Fox and Union avenue running from Lookout avenue southeastwardly to the line of the city of Pittsburgh.

Campbell street—the street running from Rebecca to Bryant street, between Love and Chartiers avenue.

Jane street—the street next northeastwardly from the parallel with Catharine street, running from the city line northwestwardly to Lorenz avenue, of the width of 25 feet, and thence continuing northwestwardly the width of reduced 20 feet, to the line of the Tp. of Chartiers.

Mertz avenue—the street running from the angle in Steuben street, known as Harrington's corner, northwestwardly to Brown street.

Division street—the street running from Winchester street to the Plank Road along the line of the city of Pittsburgh.

Spruce street—the street parallel with High street, and southwest of it from Division street (to) westwardly

Buttonwood street—the street running from Division street to Plank Road.

Beach street—the street running from Wayne to High sts.

Emma street—the street running from the southeasterly end of Warren to (the) Wayne street.

Jones (Walnut) street—the street from the westerly end of Spruce street, northwardly to High street.

Walnut (Jones) street—the street east of hill street running from Winchester to High street as shown on the plan of the Borough.

Ordained and enacted into a law this 14th day of December A. D. 1893
