Cholera.—We have not heard of a single case of cholera in Allegheny, for the past two days, and it has entirely disappeared from Pittsburgh. Our country friends need entertain no fears of coming into town now, since it never has been in a healthier condition.
Parades.—On Thursday, the various military companies of Allegheny County will parade; and they will attract a great deal of attention, since several of the companies have never, so far as we know, marched through Pittsburgh.
The firemen are also making great preaprations [sic] for their annual parade, which will take place on Saturday.
Fine Paintings.—Dubufe's beautiful paintings of Adam and Eve increase in popularity, daily.
Water Alley.—The paving of Water Alley, in Allegheny, is nearly completed. By the way its name seems to be a misnomer, since instead of being an alley, it is a street.
Good Order.—We are glad to learn that the utmost harmony prevails among the workmen on the Ohio and Pennsylvania railroad.
Criminal News.—Alderman Major issued fourteen warrants yesterday, against persons charged with assault and battery, and other offences.—There was not a single case, however, the details of which would interest our readers, since they were all trifling.
Robbing a Till.—A young lad, named Phillip Weaver, was yesterday committed to prison by Alderman Parkinson, charged with stealing a small sum of money from the till of Mr. Salmony France, a store keeper of Bayardstown. Mr. F was at dinner, but hearing a noise in the store, came into it, when he saw the prisoner and two other lads taking the money.
Drowned.—A laboring man, named James Gribbin, was accidentally drowned in the Monongahela river near the bridge, yesterday. When the body was recovered it was warm, but all efforts to restore animation proved fruitless.
The Coroner held an inquest upon the remains, and the usual verdict was rendered.
Mayor's Office, Pittsburgh.—Nine persons were brought before the Mayor of Pittsburgh yesterday, charged with drunkenness and vagrancy. Those who could pay their fines were discharged; the remainder were committed to jail.
Mayor's Office, Allegheny.—We could get no news of any interest at the Mayor's office, yesterday.
Larceny.—The Mayor yesterday committed two men named Y. G. McCarthy, and John Ceasar to jail. They are accused of stealing some boots and shoes from a shoemaker in Smithfield street.
Police.—Our police officers are on the alert, intelligence having been received which leads them to think that they will succeed in capturing a certain celebrated criminal, for whose arrest a reward of five hundred dollars is offered.
