FRIDAY RITES PLANNED FOR DR. BLESSING
Hazelwood Physician Was Active in Political And Civic Movements

Services for Dr. Frank C. Blessing, veteran Hazelwood physician who died yesterday in the Mercy Hospital, will be held at 2 p. m. Friday at the Fisher & Owens Funeral Home, 126 Hazelwood Ave.

Dr. Blessing was born in Lawrenceville 65 year [sic] ago. When he was 10, the family moved to Hazelwood where he had lived since.

He attended the old Central High School and the Western University of Pennsylvania, now University of Pittsburgh, where he took his medical course, graduating with the class of 1899. He began practice at once, specializing in obstretics [sic]. His home was at 5208 Second Ave., where he had offices as well as at 121 University Pl., Oakland.

Dr. Blessing was active in political and civic movements and served as a member of the old City Council and the Pittsburgh Civil Service Commission. Last fall, he was honored at a testimonial dinner as a civic leader and physician.

He was a staff member of the South Side Hospital and had membership in the American Medical Assn., the Allegheny County Medical Society; Harmony Lodge, F. & A. M., Washington, D. C.; Ascalon Commandery Knights Templar, Scottish Rite, Consistory and Syria Temple. He was Past Grand Patron of the Order of Eastern Star of Pennsylvania; a member of Lodge No. 11, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks; South Hills Country Club and the Duquesne Golf Assn., of Duquesne, Pa.

Besides his widow, Eleanor Kerr Blessing, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Anne Louise Leslie, of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Alma Chess, of Crafton; three grandchildren and seven sisters, Rose, Louise, Lottie and Bertha Blessing; Mrs. George Speidel, Mrs. Victoria Shirer and Mrs. Anna M. Rote.

Burial will be in the Homewood Cemetery.
