Source:Frey, pp. 144–145: "'Murray Hill,' from the south side of Fifth Avenue to Shady Avenue, was named for James B. Murray, fourth Mayor of Pittsburgh, and Mary Wilkins Murray, sister of Judge Wilkins. He constructed a winding road from Fifth Avenue to Wilkins Avenue and divided his property into three parts. Known [p. 145] to-day as Woodland Road, it is one of the most beautiful and exclusive residential districts in Pittsburgh."
