1871-04-10: Source:Municipal-record-1871, Select Council: "Mr. Murdoch, presented a petition for the survey and opening of Wightman street, from Wilkins avenue to Forbes street. Referred to the Survey Committee. ¶ Also, a petition for the survey and opening of a new street from Wightman street to Shady Lane. Referred to the Survey Committee."
1922-10-29: Source:Fleming-little-girl-1: "Some genealogical account of the Wightmans of Pittsburgh contributed by her appeared in The Gazette Times in the issue of September 3 last, to which reference may be had. The family name is commemorated in that beautiful residential street in the Squirrel Hill section, Wightman street. Thomas Wightman an uncle of Mrs. Wilbur was best known for his long connection with glass manufacturing in this city and other points in Western Pennsylvania."
1946-01-31: Obituaries, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, p. 18 (Newspapers.com 88725244): "SAMUEL RALSTON WIGHTMAN ¶ . . . He was a son of Thomas Wightman, founder of the Thomas Wightman Glass Company and was the last of his generation to be associated in its operation. . . . Mr. Wightman was born in the old family homestead on Forbes street near Wightman street, which was named for his family."
