1872: Source:Hopkins-1872, pp. 54–55: The alley is drawn, labeled just "Alley." To the southwest, on the other side of Laurel Street (now Lorigan Street), are two lots labeled "J. Wertz."

1892-03-28: Source:Municipal-record-1891-1892, Common Council, p. 231: "Mr. O'Donnell presented ¶ No. 611. Petition for the laying of water pipe on Wertz alley, from Taylor street for a distance of about three hundred feet.' ¶ Which was referred to Department of Public Works."
