"[Bayardstown] was incorporated as the borough of Northern Liberties in 1829 before it was annexed into the City of Pittsburgh in 1837." Check this. Source:regan@48 says it was annexed in segments in 1837, 1845, and 1868, but he might be confusing Bayardstown, Northern Liberties, the Strip District, maybe Lawrenceville, etc.
