Tarleton Avenue (1910–1916)

North Taylor Avenue is named for Zachary Taylor (1784–1850), major general in the Mexican–American War and twelfth President of the United States.[1][2][3][4] It was originally named Taylor Avenue, but after the 1907 annexation of Allegheny into the city of Pittsburgh, this name conflicted with Taylor Street in Bloomfield, so in 1910 it was renamed Tarleton Avenue.[5] Six years later it was changed again to Taylor Avenue North,[6] which was eventually transposed to North Taylor Avenue.
