Origin of name James P. Sterrett

Sterrett Street is named for James P. Sterrett, eighth president judge of the Court of Common Pleas (1862–1877), after which he served on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. He was preceded as president judge of the Court of Common Pleas by William B. McClure, eponym of McClure Avenue. Collier Street, one block to the east, is also named for a president judge of the Court of Common Pleas.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
