Shiloh Street is named for the Battle of Shiloh, fought in 1862 during the American Civil War. The name of the battle was taken from Shiloh Church, on the main road to Corinth, Mississippi, about two and a half miles from Pittsburg Landing on the Tennessee River. The name of the church, in turn, came from the ancient Israelite city of Shiloh, mentioned several times in the Bible.[1][2]
