This road was originally named Kennedy Road, for John M. Kennedy, who formerly owned the land through which the road passes.[1] Its name was changed to Kipling Road in 1922,[2] likely to avoid confusion with Kennedy Avenue.
Bob Regan includes "Kipling" in a list of streets named for noted historical people;[3] the implied eponym seems to be Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936), British author, probably most famous for The Jungle Book (1894).
